If you are a healthy, able-bodied adult who wants to see New Zealand for its most outstanding qualities (the outdoors!) this guide is of practically no use. The only positive thing is that what recommendations they do have for hotels/restaurants seem helpful and are much clearer than other brands of guides I've used. This book it great! If you've ever seen him on Viceland, his writing is a direct reflection of him as a host as well. I'd like to compliment him on a job well done, the pages of this cookbook are thick, and the quality of the book you can feel in its pages. I LOVE the wide margins (I often take notes in my cookbooks), the photos are beautiful and enhance this book in every way possible. I have yet to try any of his recipes at this time but the read has been fun, I may come back and do a follow up a review when the time comes. Alright, this my very first cookbook. I just received it today and I have to say I really love the quality of the book, very clean and well made.Now for the receipts:Some of them are way left feild for anything I would try...(Grilled Beef Tongue). But, there are tons of receipts that I'm going to be trying. This forced us t o learn how to communicate with each other right off the bat, and I think our marriage is stronger because of it.Where I think the Roloffs lose a lot of people is the constant talk of Christianity. I understand and admire that God is a big part of their life and their marriage, but I honestly believe if they toned it down just a bit that their overall message would be heard so much louder and clearer. The overall message of this book is a great one that many people could learn from, but I think the Roloffs are isolating themselves to a specific fan base by constantly talking about God. It is entirely possible to live a “love letter life” without Jesus being a part of your life. I don’t think one way is better than the other, and I don’t think the Roloffs do either honestly. They seem like good, honest, caring people. Unfortunately there are a few times the book comes off as a bit preachy.Regardless, this was an easy read with an excellent overall message. There would be le ss divorce in this world if people actually abided by some of these principles instead of rushing into marriage. My curiosity about how other people live their lives would probably prompt me to read another book by them as it was much better written than I anticipated. However, if you are not a religious person or if you are easily offended by people who talk about religion a lot, this is not the book for you.
